digiPROOF - Experience
digiPROOF and payment by fingerprint is well accepted by customers. The fact, that it is based on biometric identification is apparently no hindrance at all for consumers. They rather appreciate speed and convenience provided by the system.
In addition to it-werkes´ own analysis, two master thesis exist, scrutinizing in depth system acceptance, behaviour and reasons for using a biometric payment system. They confirm that convenience is the most driving agent whereas security aspects are of minor importance.
Average basket size of a digiPROOF food retail customer is around 35,- euro. He or she visits his shop 3,6 times per month. At present the digiPROOF payment by fingerprint systems spreads at a pace of 3-4 stores per week and the rollout is gaining speed.
Major user groups are the food-retail sector and regional department and fashion store chains. Those retailers appreciate an additional USP, which also increases customers loyalty at low cost.
The merchants benefit further from lower internal transaction cost as, compared to card based systems, fraud is less frequent.
